Renewable Energy World – Utah commissions first floating solar project

Utah’s first floating solar array, located on a holding pond at the Signal Hill Water Treatment Plant, has been completed ahead of schedule. The project was commissioned September 20 and full utility permission to operate is expected by October 23. Cleantech integrator and renewable energy developer Ameresco collaborated with floating PV developer D3Energy on the project, in partnership with Mountain Regional Water Special Service District. The innovative 587.5 KW, 1,078-panel floating solar array is designed to generate 871,086 kilowatt-hours (KWh) of clean energy annually.
